A Closer Look: Understanding Previous Challenges.

Navigating through the labyrinth of the museum’s offerings while keeping the visitor’s experience at the forefront wasn’t a simple task. The complexities were numerous, and the challenges were unique.

Integration Challenges during Covid

The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic brought an unexpected twist to the project. Lockdowns, health regulations, safety protocols, and changing governmental guidelines became moving targets. Integrating a new system during these turbulent times required careful planning, flexibility, and a strong vision for the museum’s future.

Architectural Complexities: Multilevel and Mezzanine Areas

The physical layout of the Musée de la Musique is anything but simple. With several levels, mezzanines, and interconnected spaces, designing a seamless visitor experience was a formidable task. The architectural uniqueness that adds to the museum’s charm also poses a significant challenge in ensuring effortless navigation for every visitor.

Glass Showcases and Large Content: How it Posed a Challenge

Behind the showcases lies a rich collection of musical instruments. Adding to this was the amount of audio and video content that needed to be accessible. Managing, synchronizing, and presenting this content in a way that wouldn’t overwhelm the visitor while providing a comprehensive experience required a fresh approach.

The Vision: Expectations from the New Multimedia Guide

The Musée de la Musique was ready for a transformative change, and that’s when the GEED solution came into play. Their vision was to offer a fresh multimedia guide that would be free, easily accessible on-site, and intuitive to use. Thanks to GEED’s solutions, this new web app aimed to be a companion to every visitor, regardless of their disabilities or device preferences.

Accessibility took center stage in this transformation. The guide was to be adaptable and responsive to all visitor needs, providing inclusivity for everyone. With GEED’s help, the web app’s design could cater to various disabilities, making every visit unique and enriching.

Innovation was the underlying melody. The museum wanted to lead by example, integrating existing video screens to enhance the experience and allowing visitors to continue exploring after they left. The system’s flexibility ensured it could adapt to new exhibitions, keeping the content fresh and engaging.

With the Philharmonie project, the Musée de la Musique was setting a new standard. The collaboration with Livdeo aimed to make music an accessible and inspiring journey for every visitor. It sought to foster connections that extended well beyond the confines of the museum’s walls. Together, they were crafting a future for museum experiences that was as simple as it was profound.

The Solution: A Symphony of Technology

In collaboration with the GEED solution, the Philharmonie project was about crafting a harmonious visitor experience at the Musée de la Musique. More than just technology, it was an innovative symphony that made the connection between visitors and art sing.

A robust WiFi infrastructure was deployed throughout the site, enabling visitors to access a diverse range of content effortlessly. This infrastructure acted as a bridge, linking the visitor with text, images, audio, and video that brought the art to life.

Universal accessibility was at the core of the design. The solution was deployed to serve every visitor with a web app that offered simplified interfaces, adapting to different comprehension levels and disabilities. From text enlargement to Dyslexia-friendly fonts, the solution ensured that art and music were accessible to all.

The magic lay in the seamless experience. Indoor geolocation transformed the museum into an interactive space. Proximity notifications guided visitors through thematic zones, and screens were integrated as points of interest, allowing synchronized audio-video content in various languages.

Personalization added a special touch. Visitors could customize their journey, choosing their tour and exploring at their pace. The GEED technology played a vital role in this customization, ensuring an immersive experience tailored to individual needs.

The solution was more than just technology; it blended innovation, empathy, and creativity. With the help of GEED, the Musée de la Musique became a place where technology-enhanced art and every visitor was the conductor of their unique and unforgettable experience.

The Benefits: A Harmonious Experience

The Philharmonie project, empowered by the GEED solution, played a melody of benefits that resonated throughout the Musée de la Musique.

Accessibility was the core theme, with an app to embrace every visitor. It’s not just about adjustable text size or Dyslexia-friendly fonts; it’s about offering a warm welcome to all, ensuring that no matter the comprehension levels or disabilities, there’s a path designed uniquely.

The localization added depth to this melody. Geolocation turned wandering into exploration, guiding visitors through the museum’s thematic zones with precise and engaging alerts.

Media delivery turned the museum into an immersive sensory experience. Thanks to the integration of GEED’s capabilities, visitors could access a vast audio and video library synchronized with nearly 50 video screens, transforming gallery spaces into a rich tapestry of sight and sound.

The experience continued beyond the museum’s doors, with post-visit engagement extending the connection through digital keepsakes. The ability to relive the magic and continue the exploration from home made the visit unforgettable.

An adaptable and evolving platform kept the experience fresh and engaging. Whether creating new routes or adapting to temporary exhibitions, the museum’s team had the flexibility to compose and innovate, ensuring the symphony of visitor experience never grew stale.

The collaboration with GEED transformed the Philharmonie project into more than just a technological solution. It became a harmonious experience, a blend of technology, innovation, and empathy that continually inspires, connecting visitors to the Musée de la Musique in an inclusive and artistically enriching way.

Projections and KPIs: A Look at the Numbers and Beyond

Since the launch of the Philharmonie project, implemented with the GEED solution, the numbers have sung a triumphant melody. Nearly 2800 unique sessions per month translate to almost 90 users daily. Over a week during the summer, this means almost 1400 unique users accessing close to 17000 points of interest, enriched by 8 hours of audio and video content across 700 intriguing points. These aren’t mere numbers but a symphony of engagement, curiosity, and artistic exploration.

As for what lies ahead, the expectation is a crescendo. The system is finely tuned and ready for future adaptations, innovations, and enhancements. Its success lays a robust foundation for continued growth, tapping into new audiences and further enriching the visitor experience.

The future of this project is turning into new languages. Integrating different languages is the museum’s commitment to breaking down barriers and reaching a broader audience. We’re passionate about bringing art to everyone, regardless of their language. The Philharmonie project? Think of it as a lively blend of art, tech, and human wonder. It’s like watching past achievements and future dreams come together in a dance. So, if art gives you that special feeling, this is something you’ll love!

The Music Museum found the GEED solution's perfect answer to their challenge. It turned their current temporary exhibition — “Putain d’Expo”, a retrospective of French singer, songwriter, and activist Renaud — into an accessible, immersive, and “silent” exhibition. In a recent review of this exhibition, the French cultural magazine Métropolitaine stated:

Here’s a nice touch: with their smartphone and headphones, visitors are invited to enjoy the multimedia content of the exhibition via an app that can be downloaded in the blink of an eye. This changes from the usual audio guides, or worse, the cacophony of videos being played on a loop.

It’s a big yes for us!

We chose Livdeo to create the new videoguide for the Musée de la Musique. The project was particularly dense and atypical, with a huge amount of content to include and a universal accessibility approach. Livdeo was able to adapt perfectly to our requirements and needs, while providing sound advice on multiple aspects, from navigation to functionalities. Their skills cover a very wide field, which enabled us to build a complete application with them, from the installation of wifi terminals dedicated to the visit application to a tailor-made post-visit, including audio synchronization of the Museum’s screens in the visioguide. Used by almost all visitors aged 6 and over, the visioguide is now universally acclaimed as an indispensable part of the visit. The creativity of Livdeo’s solutions, their responsiveness and, above all, the quality of their professional relationship enabled the project to be carried out in an intense but calm manner.

Wrap-Up: A Melodious Conclusion

For the museum team, discovering the harmony between technology and music has been a journey. With GEED’s tools, they have crafted a system that makes music accessible to all, regardless of their disabilities. Whether it’s the integration of audio description tours, Dyslexia-friendly fonts for reading challenges, sign language and subtitles for the hearing impaired, or tailored experiences for the intellectually disabled, the solution is an inclusive embrace. It’s a dynamic composition evolving with the museum’s ever-changing exhibitions and audience needs.

Visitors have found a museum that sings to them, literally. Through personalized guidance, seamless access to abundant musical content, and the intuitive assistance of geolocation, they experience the music in a way that’s unique to them.
